Abstract
The essential oil from the roots of Cyperus compressus Linn. (Cyperaceae) collected from south India was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-two compounds, representing 90.5% of the oil were identified. The oil has been characterized by the predominance of sesquiterpenoids (89.9%), with caryophyllene oxide (34.0%) and cyperene (25.6%) being the major constituents
