Abstract

The essential oils from fruits, flowers and leaves of Phellodendron japonicum Maxim. were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC), GC/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. More than 80 compounds were identified. Myrcene (79.5–86.1%) and germacrene D (2.5–11.8%) were the main constituents in the fruit oil. The flower oil contained mainly myrcene (59.7%) and α-pinene (8.0%), whereas the leaf oil contained β-elemol (30.5%) and myrcene (21.2%).
