Abstract
This article is based on the president's speech given at the business meeting of the 83rd Annual Convention of the Southern States Communication Association, New Orleans, Louisiana, April 4, 2014. The choices we make, in our lives as well as in our study of communication, relate to the key structures of time, money, and spirituality. As communication scholars and teachers, we should seek to promote genuine dialogue, face-to-face if possible, in the face of multiple communication channels and distractions.
