A Simple and Practical Method for the Oxidation of Thiols to Disulfides at Mild Conditions Without Solvents

Abstract

A green, straightforward, and novel method for the oxidation of thiols to the corresponding disulfides is reported using hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) without solvents at room temperature. The corresponding disulfides were obtained with excellent yields and short reaction times.
