GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract

Complexation of Ag+ with tris(dimethylamino)phosphine sulfide [as ligand (L)] in acetonitrile solution was investigated using calorimetry and potentiometry. The knowledge of βj formation constants, by the latter technique, allowed the determination of predominant domains for different species in solution and plotting the repartition curves of species in solution as a function of added ligand concentration. The results obtained from both techniques are in good agreement and show the formation of at least two species in acetonitrile solution (i.e., AgL, AgL2 …). In addition, this study aims at proposing formal mechanisms for the successive reactions and determining thermodynamic and kinetic parameters for each species.
