Abstract
The wide-spreading chemistry of sulfides has been attractive to organic synthetic researchers. The synthesis of sulfides (compounds containing carbon-sulfur bond) is one of the most important and most valuable transformations in both organic synthetic chemistry and pharmaceutical industry and the development of synthetic protocols for the preparation of alkyl aryl and dialkyl sulfides is highly desired. Up to now, a diverse range of catalytic systems and promoter agents in numerous synthetic methodologies have been studied by various research groups for the synthesis of alkyl aryl and dialkyl sulfides. In this comprehensive review article, we studied a wide range of recently reported important activities towards the synthesis of alkyl aryl and dialkyl sulfides within the last twenty three years.
