Editorial for Bob Holmes Special Issue

(Editor-in-Chief)

It has been more than 7 years since Professor Robert (Bob) Holmes retired from his 20 plus years of work as Editor-in-Chief of Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements. He deservedly holds the title of Editor Emeritus in special recognition of his significant contributions to the journal. I am thrilled, on behalf of the Editorial Board, to present this issue of original articles and mini-reviews from our worldwide community of phosphorus chemists who have supported our forum through this journal since its creation more than 40 years ago.

In developing this special issue of papers dedicated to Bob, I was fortunate enough to ask Professor Patty Wisian-Neilson to serve as the Guest Editor. She has done an outstanding job in assembling a variety of manuscripts from chemists around the world, each of whom has requested that their paper be placed in this special issue.

I am very appreciative of the additional time that those authors took to write papers that are pertinent to the scope of work of Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements.

Our very best wishes go out to Bob and Joan and through the pages of the issue, we celebrate what Professor Robert Holmes brings to the exciting and changing research environment centered on phosphorus chemistry.
