In presenting 30 accepted papers from the 14th International Symposium on Inorganic Ring Systems (IRIS-14) that was held in Regensburg, Germany from 26th-31st July 2015 in this special issue of Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements, I would like to thank the organizing chair and member of our Editorial Board, Professor Dr. Manfred Scheer for the opportunity to engage with the IRIS group again. We were able to use the conference to co-locate an Editorial Board meeting for many active members.
The chemistry associated with the design, synthesis and properties of inorganic rings ties in superbly to the scope of our journal and the manuscripts presented offer a varied glimpse into the high quality inorganic chemistry that was on offer through plenary and keynote speakers and extensive oral presentations and posters. I hope you find this collection to be reflective of the excellent conference and the strength of contemporary inorganic ring chemistry.
With my best wishes,
