Foreword for International Symposium on the Organic Chemistry of Sulfur – ISOCS-27

(Editor-in-Chief)

I am delighted to present a wide-ranging and contemporary collection of accepted plenary, oral and poster papers from ISOCS-27 that were reviewed by the Organizing Committee. The conference was held in the historic German city of Jena from 26th to 29th July 2016.

Professor Wolfgang Weigand, a member of the Editorial Board of Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements served as a wonderful Conference Chair, and I am pleased to have worked with him to develop the submissions presented here. They fit the themes of the conference including synthetic, supramolecular, medicinal, bioorganic, structural, catalytic, and applied organosulfur chemistry; these topics are commonly found within our regular issues too.

I would like to extend my thanks to the Scientific and Organizing Committees of ISOCS-27, and those who carried out the local work that was done to bring the conference together; Taylor and Francis provided financial support for the meeting and I am appreciative of the work of our Managing Editor, Kaleigh Sunday, who developed the contracts and supports our special issue advancement and Anne Hirs, Production Editor, who oversees the creation of the online and print versions.
