A new macrocyclic [FeFe]-hydrogenase H cluster model

ABSTRACT

A novel macrocyclic complex [Fe₂(CO)₆{µ-(S(CH₂)₃)₂S}]₂ (2) has been synthesized by the reaction of Fe₃(CO)₁₂ with 1,2,6,10,11,15-hexathiacyclooctadecane (1). This tetranuclear macrocyclic complex has been isolated and characterized by IR spectroscopy, ¹H NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry as well as elemental analysis. The solid state structures of 1,2,6,10,11,15-hexathiacyclooctadecane (1) and [Fe₂(CO)₆{µ-(S(CH₂)₃)₂S}]₂ (2) were determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis.
