Our special memorial issues are tinged with mixed emotions. The phosphorus community mourned the loss of our friend, Professor Harry Hudson, in 2016. But we are pleased to see so many outstanding chemistry contributions dedicated to his memory and carefully assembled in this issue, together with some personal and reflective memories and comments about chemistry collaborations in the form of extended obituaries.
My deepest gratitude goes to Professor Gerhard Hägele for his expert handling of the invitations, editorial process, and development of the special issue as our Associate Editor. He put a lot of thought and time into his craft and the outcome is thanks to his dedication. There are varied contributions from European, African, and Asian chemists.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Professor György Keglevich for his interest in creating this lasting tribute to his close phosphorus chemistry colleague, and to European Editor, Professor Konstantin Karaghiosoff.
As always, I am grateful for the support of Kaleigh Sunday, Managing Editor, and Anne Hirs, Production Editor (from Taylor and Francis), for helping us through the steps to assemble this collection.
With my very best wishes,
