Abstract
A convenient oxidant-free phosphorylation of caffeine by dialkyl-H-phosphonates under electrochemical mild conditions in the presence of metal catalyst is proposed. Silver salts, nickel and palladium complexes were tested as catalysts. This method allows to obtain the dialkylphosphonate derivatives of caffeine in good yields (up to 80%).
