A Mild and Chemoselective Catalyst for Thioacetalization Under Solvent Free Conditions

Protection of a variety of carbonyl compounds as dithioacetals using P 2 O 5 /SiO 2 (75%), as a mild and chemoselective catalyst, was achieved under solvent free conditions in very good yields.
