Abstract
Composite is prepared by mixing Zr57Cu20Al10Ni8Ti5 and W powders and compaction in a WC system at a temperature between the glass transition temperature (T g ) and crystallization temperature (T x ), using the viscous flow behaviour of the metallic glass to form the matrix. Compaction and sintering (by hot pressing and Spark Plasma Sintering) of the metallic glasses (MG) powder is reported in detail, emphasizing detrimental evolution of the amorphous phase during the milling process for viscous flow. This drawback is overcome using an atomized powder.
