Abstract

The Y2O3: Tb3+, Dy3+ nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Their structure and micromorphology were analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photoluminescence (PL) properties of Y2O3: Tb3+, Dy3+ phosphor nanorods were investigated. Upon excitation with ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, it is shown that there is a strong emission band at around 545 nm, corresponding to 5D4-7F5 transition of Tb3+ and the band at 571 nm corresponding to the hypersensitive transition 4F9/26H13/2; the band at 485 nm corresponds to the 4F9/26H15/2 transition. Tb3+, Dy3+ ions with different proportion are induced into the Y2O3 lattice; the emission intensity and color of nanorods reveal regular changing in the separation of light-emitting.
