Abstract

Blockchain offers innovative solutions with information flow that improves the supply chain. This research aimed to present an overview of how blockchain technology can improve supply chain performance with a focus on visibility, reliability, security, analysis, and risk management. A systematic literature review was carried out and the selection of 72 articles that met the inclusion criteria was made in the Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore with the use of the keywords “blockchain” and “supply chain performance,” in the time frame from 2017 to 2022. Studies show that there is a gap in the investigation of this theme, so it is critical to build a conceptual framework for blockchain adoption in the supply chain. It is concluded that visibility, reliability, security, and risk management can improve the supply chain with blockchain deployment in conjunction with other digital technologies.

Notes

1 Peer-to-peer (p2p) networking is structured when participants share a portion of their hardware resources (processing power, storage capacity, network link capacity, printers). Shared resources are required to provide the service and the content offered over the network (for example, file sharing or shared workspaces for collaboration). Peer-to-peer networks are directly accessible by other peers without going through intermediate entities. The participants in this network are therefore providers of resources (service and content), as well as resources (service and content) and lawyers (Schollmeier, Citation2001).

2 Hash functions map strings of bits of variable length (but usually higher) to strings of bits of fixed length using a specified algorithm. They can be used to reduce a message to a short print for input into a digital signature engine and compromiser the user to a given primavera of bits without revealing this sequence (ISO/IEC, Citation2004).
