Abstract
This introduction highlights a few ways that the field concept is uniquely and commonly applied within various schools of psychoanalytic thought. The author touches on Stern's considerable capacity to examine underlying and sometimes masked similarities regarding the analyst's self-reflective participation in ostensibly different approaches to clinical psychoanalysis.
