Abstract
This paper presents an optimal ranked set sample allocation scheme for a two-sample ranked set sample median test for a location shift between X- and Y-sample distributions F and G. It is shown that the optimal design based on maximizing the asymptotic Pitman efficiency quantifies only the middle observation(s) in a set of X- and Y-samples uniformly over all probability models..The exact probability distribution of the ranked set two-sample median test is derived and tabulated for selected sample and set sizes.
