Abstract
Antioxidant capacities of solvent extracts of Hoppea fastigiata were studied by analyzing free radical scavenging activities 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2’-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS), and ferric reducing antioxidant potential (FRAP). The ethanolic extract showed a comparatively higher amount of total phenolics, free radical scavenging activities DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP. Qualitative antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract was tested by DNA nicking assay. The ethanolic extract showed significant acetylcholinesterase (AChE)-inhibitory activity with the IC50 value of 1.1 mg dry weight mL−1.
