ABSTRACT

This study examined the determinants of the use of food safety information in the purchase of milk. Survey data were collected from 200 randomly selected consumers in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Descriptive analysis and logistic regression models were used to analyze the data. Results showed that the use of food safety information was positively influenced by knowledge of food safety, marital status, educational level, and presence of risk groups in the household (p < .05). Gender and household size negatively influenced the use of food safety information, thus indicating the target group for food safety communication and intervention.
