Robert Shail is a lecturer in film studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He has published work on various aspects of British film history and on the representation of masculinity in film stardom. He is currently working on a book about the Welsh film star Stanley Baker and on a critical guide to British film directors for Edinburgh University Press.
