Small group communication research of the 1970's: A synthesis and critique

This essay summarizes and critiques the 114 studies on small group communication that have been published in speech communication journals from 1969 to 1979. The small group literature is classified into three new lines of research which focus on the communication variables of small group processes and three traditional lines of research, namely, leadership, discussion, and pedagogy.
