The status of communication ethics scholarship in speech communication journals from 1915 to 1985

Abstract

This article examines the theoretical status of communication ethics scholarship from 1915 to 1985. Five different approaches to communication ethics are used for reviewing article contributions in communication studies: (1) democratic ethics, (2) universal‐humanitarian ethics, (3) codes and standards for ethics, (4) contextual ethics, and (5) narrative ethics.
