Dialogue

Phenomenological dialogue, humanistic psychology, and pseudo‐walls: A response and extension

Pages 344-357 | Published online: 06 Jun 2009

This article examines Martin Buber's dialogical principle in relationship to humanistic psychology and communication theory. A recent article is taken as a foil to demonstrate how misleading dichotomies might arise to thwart useful synthesis. Special emphasis is given to the concepts of role, image, empathy, and self, along with their phenomenological implications.
