Editorial

From the Editor

I am happy to introduce issue 34 number 4, a special issue on the theme, “ICT for Global Competitiveness and Economic Growth in Emerging Economies.” The special issue editors are Jolanta Kowal, University of Wroclaw, Poland and Grażyna Paliwoda-Pękosz, Cracow University of Economics, Poland. It is my pleasure to introduce them:

Dr. Jolanta Kowal is an assistant professor in the Institute of Psychology of Wroclaw University, Poland, a Jungian analyst, and holds a PhD in economic sciences from the University of Economics in Wrocław. Jolanta is president of the Polish chapter of the Association for Information Systems (PLAIS) and president of the Polish Association for Analytical Psychology. She is a member of AIS, the Polish Statistical Association, and the International Association for Analytical Psychology. Her research interests include organization and management, information systems, research methodology, psychology of management, analytical psychology, and cross-cultural research. She has published in The Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries, Journal of Business and Economic Management, Journal of Global Information Technology Management, Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing, and numerous conference proceedings. Jolanta served as the conference and track co-chair for the America’s Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Management (ICTM), International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN), and European Conference on Management, Leadership, and Governance (ECMLG). She is member of editorial boards of the Economy-Market-Education journal and the Polish Journal of Applied Psychology, and associated research editor of Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

Dr. Grażyna Paliwoda-Pękosz is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Cracow University of Economics (CUE), Poland. She holds a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) and PhD in economics from CUE and MSc in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland. Her research interests include enterprise system adoption, application of ICT in education, and semantic web technologies. Grażyna has published in Industrial Management and Data Systems, Information Technology for Development, Information Systems Management, The Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries, and in conference proceedings. She has organized mini-tracks in AMCIS and the Association for Computing Machinery’s (ACM) Special Interest Group on Management of Data’s International Workshop on Semantic Big Data (SIGMOD/SBD).

The six themed articles are introduced by Jolanta and Grażyna. Thanks to both of them for their quality work in preparing this excellent themed issue.
