From the Editor

I hope you enjoy the contents of this issue 35–2 of Information Systems Management. Included are five articles.

The first article, “Determinants of Adoption for Open-Source Office Applications: A Plural Investigation,” by Sumedha Chauhan, Mahadeo Jaiswal, Sumita Rai, Luvai Motiwalla, and Leo Pipino, focuses on the determinants influencing organizational adoption of vendor-supported open-source software applications or open-source office applications (OSOA). Software cost, complexity, trialability, compatibility, technology competence, organizational innovativeness, and service quality are found to influence the decision to adopt OSOA. Next, in “The Moderating Role of IT-business Alignment in the Relationship Between IT Governance, IT Competence, and Innovation,” authors Sylvie Héroux and Anne Fortin rely on resource-based theory to conclude that both IT governance and executive management IT competence have a positive effect on innovation. However, board IT competence was found to have no significant impact on innovation. The third article, entitled “Investigating the Impact of Citizens’ Trust toward the Successful Adoption of E-government: A Multi-Group Analysis of Gender, Age and Internet Experience,” by Latifa Alzahrani, Wafi Al-Karaghouli, and Vishanth Weerakkody, investigates how the individual differences in gender, age, and internet experience influence citizens’ trust in the adoption of e-government. While senior citizens were found to have greater trust in e-government than young people, Internet experience has a positive influence on citizens’ trust. The fourth article, “Producing Competitive Advantage from an Infrastructure Technology: The Case of Cloud Computing,” by Xin (Robert) Luo, Wei Zhang, Ranjit Bose, Han Li, and QB Chung integrates the theory of diffusion of innovations and the theory of dynamic capabilities. The strengths of these theories are synthesized into a framework to assist organizations in determining the viability of cloud computing as a source of competitive advantage. Finally, in the last of the five articles in this issue, entitled “Information Foraging – A Model for Exploration Breadth and Depth,” by Bjarne Berg, Antonis Stylianou, and Razvan A. Mezei, human Internet information foraging behaviors are examined. Insights into the online exploration breadth and depth behaviors of individuals and a model relating the behaviors to established cognitive measures are provided.
