New Method for Search and Sort with Bit-Serial and Word-Parallel Type of Functional Memory

Pages 167-169 | Received 17 Aug 2010, Accepted 27 Oct 2010, Published online: 27 Jun 2011

Abstract

Applications of functional memory based on FeRAM (ferroelectric random access memory) to information technology have been described. New algorithm for searching and sorting in fields of data processing has been proposed. The number of times for comparison in logic operation with use of new method based on bit-serial and word-parallel type of functional memory is calculated. And in order to verify the advantage, it is compared to conventional way. As a result, it is revealed that the application is promising. Especially, the number of times for sorting operation is estimated to decrease to order, n, which breaks through the theoretical limit.
