Abstract

The high quality (K0.95Li0.05) (Ta1-x Nb x ) O3 (KLTN), x = 0.60, single crystals have been successfully grown by the Top-seeded melt growth method (TSSG). Its structure, dielectric, pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties have been investigated. Based on the dielectric and pyroelectric properties measurements, rhombohedral to orthorhombic and orthorhombic to tetragonal transition temperatures are found to be 88 K, 195 K, respectively, and the Curie temperature was 445 K. From the pyroelectric curves, the integrated spontaneous polarization, ∼16 μC/cm2 and the figure of merits (FOMs) are calculated at room temperature. Resonance and anti-resonance method is used to measure the piezoelectric coefficients; thickness vibration mode (k t) 60.4% and the length-extensional vibration mode (k 31) 56.2%, for the KLTN single crystals are attractive for the piezoelectric and pyroelectric applications.
