Abstract
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocomposites have been prepared with different concentration of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). The elastomer-filler interactions have been studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) to observe the distribution of nanoparticles in the polymer matrix. Mechanical properties of PDMS/MWCNT nanocomposites have been studied to measure strength of the material. Electrical conductivity (σ) of PDMS/MWCNT nanocomposites has been measured using inductance–capacitance–resistance meter at different temperature. Thermal characteristics of PDMS/MWCNT nanocomposites have been studied using differential scanning calorimetry and thermo-gravimetric analysis. In addition to above PDMS material is also used for microstrip patch antenna application.
