Abstract

Samarium chloride coordinated with glycine and salicylic acid grown by slow evaporation technique was analyzed by particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X – ray analysis (EDAX) and dielectric study. SEM depicts morphology as irregular shaped flakes, whereas EDAX confirms the presence of required elements. The dielectric losses (tanδ) were analyzed as a function of both frequency and temperature. Accordingly, imaginary part of dielectric constant (ε′′) was calculated which was found to decrease with increase in frequency. Impedance spectroscopy was performed to find the resistance and dielectric relaxation of the material. The magnitude of real and imaginary part of impedance decreases with increase in frequency thereby suggesting an increase in ac conductivity with increase in frequency.
