Abstract

The Eu3+ ions-doped barium gadolinium borate glasses were synthesized by the melt-quenching technique with various Eu2O3 concentrations to investigate the physical, optical, and luminescence properties. The results showed that the density tended to be increased along with increased Eu2O3 concentration, while the molar volume decreased along with increased Eu2O3 concentration. The absorption spectra showed the characteristic absorption peaks in the visible and near-infrared regions. The emission spectra of the glasses were illustrated the highest emission intensity at 613 nm wavelength, which corresponds to the Eu3+ transition, 5D07F2. The CIE 1931 chromaticity investigation showed that Eu3+ doped glasses emitted the light with a reddish-orange color.
