Abstract

Novel dual modified PU membranes were prepared by β-cyclodextrin (CD) crosslinking and carbon fiber (CF) filling. The structures, thermal stabilities, morphologies and surface properties were characterized by FTIR, TGA, SEM, XRD and contact angle. PV performances were investigated for the mixture of phenol and water. The dual modified membranes showed not only higher permeability, but also better selectivity than PU membranes. At 80°C for the 0.5 wt% phenol aqueous solution, the total flux of PU was 6.59 kg μm m−2 h−1, while the PU-CD-CF-1 and PU-CD-CF-2 were 8.10 kg μm m−2 h−1 and 7.77 kg μm m−2 h−1 respectively; the separation factor of PU was 8.94, while the PU-CD-CF-2 and PU-CD-CF-1 were 39.63 and 37.55, respectively.
