Nine Hundred Years of Higher Education and Innovation

Abstract

The author analyzes the rates of student enrollment and the cost of higher education worldwide in the twelfth century and in Russia in the nineteenth century, concluding that today’s growth has not been accompanied by the appropriate emergence of significant innovations, or of cultural and other achievements. This article offers recommendations for increasing the efficiency of higher education funding in Russia.
