Note From the Editor

(Editor-in-Chief)

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the latest issue of JSE, which includes eight regular articles, two data science articles, and an interview of Larry Lesser conducted by Allan Rossman.

As an issue of JSE is being prepared, I review page proofs of each article. I always learn something from reading each article anew (and I add the occasional Oxford comma and make other small suggestions to help with readability). For this issue, I repeatedly found myself making notes about how I can improve my courses by following the advice of JSE authors.

In particular, the article by Kevin Cummiskey and colleagues presents ideas on the teaching of causal inference in introductory statistics courses. I have only recently added discussion of this topic to my own intro course and I expect that most JSE readers don’t address this topic in way promoted in the article, so I hope that you’ll give special attention to what Cummiskey et al. have to say.

Please consider submitting a manuscript to JSE. You can submit under one of the following three categories: General (which includes the health sciences and data science sections), Research in K-12 Statistics Education, and Data Sets and Stories. You can find the issues from this past year, an updated Aims and Scope document, guidelines for authors, and information about the journal and editorial board at http://www.tandfonline.com/loi/ujse20.

Keep in mind that all submissions to JSE are made through the Scholar One system at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ujse.

As always, I hope you enjoy reading this issue and I welcome your feedback.

Unbiasedly,

Jeff Witmer
