In a discussion of the criticisms of the Propaganda Model and the model's usefulness ten years after it was proposed, Herman (Citation1998) noted that the “anticommunist ideology… is possibility weakened by the collapse of the Soviet Union and global socialism, but this is easily offset by the greater ideological force of the belief in the ‘miracle of the market’ (as Reagan tagged it)” (201).
