Aydin Bal

Aydin Bal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Dr. Bal examines the racialization of psychological problems, expansive learning, and systemic transformation across national and global education systems. As a researcher and practitioner, he has worked with youth from nondominant communities and refugees experiencing behavioral difficulties in schools, prisons, and hospitals in the United States, the Russian Federation, Sudan, and Turkey. His recent studies focus on developing culturally responsive interventions for systemic transformation and expansive learning in education and health services. Dr. Bal is leading a state-wide formative intervention study to address racial disproportionality in Wisconsin.
