Sarah N. Newcomer
Sarah N. Newcomer is an Associate Professor in Literacy Education at Washington State University. Her research and teaching focus on culturally sustaining language and literacy practices, particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse students, family-school-community partnerships, and how educational policies affect language and literacy education. She has taught in various contexts, including a K-8 Spanish/English dual language program in Arizona, business professionals in Japan, and immigrant parents in a family literacy program in Phoenix.
Kathleen M. Cowin
Kathleen M. Cowin is Clinical Associate Professor of Educational Leadership in the College of Education at Washington State University. Prior to her university experience she served as an elementary and middle school principal, and teacher, for 30 years. Her research primarily focuses on how mentoring relationships are initiated and develop during educational leader formation, especially for principal candidates and their mentors, and how these relationships can be sustained through reflective practice.
