Jo-Marie Burt

Jo-Marie Burt, a long-time reader of and contributor to NACLA, served as the magazine’s editor between 1995 and 2000. A long-time observer of Peruvian politics, she has been a researcher for the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a visiting professor at the Pontifical Catholic University in Peru, led a project with the Instituto de Defensa Legal (IDL) to monitor the human rights trial of former president Alberto Fujimori, and served as an expert witness in human rights trials before Peru’s National Criminal Court. She currently teaches political science at George Mason University and is a Senior Fellow at the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA).
