Brenda Elsey is Associate Professor of history and co-director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Hofstra University. She is the author of Futbolera: A History of Women and Sports in Latin America with Joshua Nadel (University of Texas press, 2019), Football and the Boundaries of History with Stanislao Pugliese (Palgrave, 2016) and Citizens and Sportsmen: Fútbol and Politics in Twentieth Century Chile (University of Texas, 2011). She has written for The Guardian, Sports’ Illustrated, and The New Republic. She is co-host of the weekly podcast on sport and feminism, Burn It All Down. She is on twitter @politicultura.
