Exploring Relationships of Masculinity and Ethnicity as At-Risk Markers for Online Sexual Addiction in Men

Pages 243-260 | Published online: 28 Nov 2011

Abstract

Relationships of ethnicity and traditional masculinity as at-risk markers for online sexual addiction were explored in this study through the use of descriptive and correlational statistics of 1,441 men. Nearly 31% of men ascribed to higher levels of traditional masculinity and 8% of men were identified as having at-risk markers for online sexual addiction. Small effect size was noted due to large sample. Further research among the varying sexual orientations, family dynamics, and religious affiliation among men is recommended to better understand how traditional masculinity and ethnicity impacts at-risk behaviors for online sexual addiction.
