Abstract
In the medium of 0.128 mol/L nitric acid and 0.450 mol/L sulfuric acid, silicon(IV) and ammonium molybdate form molybdosilicate blue blue complex in the presence of ascorbic acid. The maximum absorption wavelength of the complex locates at 810 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is ε810 nm = 3.18 × 104 L · mol−1 · cm−1. Beer's law is followed over the range of 0 ∼ 1.0 µg/mLof silicon(IV). The present method has been successfully applied to the determination of silicon in rice and alloy steel samples.
