CHEMOMETRIC CHARACTERIZATION OF MODEL COMPOUNDS RETENTION IN SALTING-OUT THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY ON CELLULOSE

Abstract

The current paper presents a second part of chemometric characterization of retention behavior of thirty-five simple model compounds in salting-out chromatography on cellulose. Twelve inorganic salts, dissolved in high concentrations (0.5–4 mol/l) in water, were used as mobile phases. The resulting retention dataset was subjected to Principal Component Analysis (PCA). First principal component (PC) (explaining majority of variance) is connected with compound contribution, independent of the salt used. The differences between the salts are modeled by the second PC. Third PC explains mainly differences in retention slopes, whereas the fourth PC models weak minor differences. The remaining PCs contain only noise.
