THE HPLC APPLIED IN THE SYNTHESIS OF BROMOPENTAFLUOROBENZENE

Pages 1032-1038 | Published online: 28 Jan 2014

Abstract

Bromopentafluorobenzene is a very important fine chemical intermediate, which is synthesized from pentafluorobenzoic acid via decarboxylation and bromination in correct order. In this paper the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method has been applied in the synthesis of bromopentafluorobenzene, the HPLC determination condition has been studied for the first time. The ODS-C18 (4.6 × 150 mm, 5 µm) column was used. The mobile phase was a mixture of acetonitrile–water–trifluoroacetic acid (55:45:0.05). The wavelength of determination was 254 nm. This method is accurate, simple and rapid, and suitable to laboratory and industry.
