He could, however, have treated two royal edicts more clearly, both in the month of March, both under the authority of Reine-Regente Catherine de’ Medici, an “Edict of Amboise” dated March 1560 (p. 245), and another, quite different in content, of March 1563 (p. 248), also known as “Edict of Amboise” but elsewhere, more helpfully, as “Edict of Pacification” or “Pacification of Amboise.”
