ABSTRACT.
The importance of reducing physiological artifacts and enhancing patient relaxation in the recording of END studies in general is well understood. Additionally, obtaining sleep in an EEG of a patient suspected of or known to have epilepsy is highly recommended. Various methods have been tried to obtain relaxation and sleep, including the administration of sedative medication, which carries with it certain risks and requirements. A perfectly safe and effective alternative to sedation is the use of relaxation music in the clinical setting. Terry Woodford and Steven Halpern are two of the best known pioneers in this form of music therapy.
