Abstract

The practice of hip hop music sampling can provide a meaningful and relatable example in discussing proper attribution in research writing. In the context of a one-shot library instruction session with first- and second-year students, this article details the use of a culturally relevant example of hip hop production as a model for understanding the academic research process.
