Pages 97-104 | Published online: 23 Dec 2015

Abstract

This article discusses an approach toward designing and delivering one-shot information literacy sessions around the acquisition of threshold concepts. By pairing the Association of College and Research Libraries Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education with the Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction Model of Instructional Design, librarians at the University of Virginia have prioritized designing sessions around the acquisition of threshold concepts, providing students with a relevant, engaging classroom experience and a foundation for further learning.
