&
Published online: 31 Jul 2024

Abstract

This column revealed that Filipino undergraduate engineering students use ChatGPT primarily for writing assistance, academic support, learning enhancement, and overall productivity. Students reported increased efficiency in completing tasks, citing improved grammar, idea generation, and understanding of complex subjects. Despite these benefits, students expressed worries about becoming too dependent on ChatGPT, which could hinder the development of creativity and problem-solving skills. The column highlights the need for a balanced integration of ChatGPT in education, promoting its use as an additional help while ensuring students maintain critical engagement and independent thinking.
