The Reality Tour Model: Crossing Boundaries in the Movement to End Poverty

Abstract

This article presents an organizing tool called a Reality Tour, which has been successfully utilized by activists in the anti-poverty movement. The authors discuss the ideology behind the Tour, exploring the concept of crossing boundaries as a way to educate individuals about social justice and economic human rights. An organizing template is provided so that readers might replicate the Tour in other communities. The authors share lessons learned as well as learning outcomes for the participants. Ongoing organizing dilemmas and areas for future work are also discussed.
