Abstract

A synthesized polymeric pour point depressant (PPD) from olive oil (Olea Europaea) was used to reduce the pour point and rheology improvement. A maximum reduction of 8 °C in pour point which was originally 43 °C at ambient temperature after adding 1000 ppm PPD. Rheology was studied at different shear rate with or without mixing of synthesized PPD at different temperature. Viscosity reduction was 89.20% after mixing 1000 ppm PPD at 45 °C. Viscoelastic property was studied, and it helps in reduction of heat treatment cost during crude oil transportation through pipelines at cold climate.
